Some doctors at 7Springs Medical Practice are Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) Designated Aviation Medical Examiners (DAME).

CASA require pilots and air traffic controllers to have periodic medical examinations to determine medical fitness to fly, and these are conducted by the DAME’s.

Before you book one of these medical examinations, you need to start an online application on the CASA website. You will need to obtain an Aviation Reference Number from CASA before starting this process. 7Springs Medical Practice also requires you to quote your Aviation Reference Number at the time of booking.

Please ensure that your online application has been completed prior to your appointment, as we are unable to perform the medical examination if this is not done.

When you attend your booked aviation medical appointment you will see one of our nurses for preliminary examination, including height/weight measurements and a urine test, so please come prepared to provide a specimen. The nurse can also perform a hearing test and/or an ECG if this is a required part of your medical examination.

If you require blood tests for your particular examination, it is a good idea to contact us two weeks prior to the examination for a pathology request form, so that we have the results at the time of examination. This helps to avoid delays in processing.

CASA Aviation Medicals require the following test to be taken:

• Blood pressure
• Pulse
• Temperature
• Respiratory rate
• ECG
• Oxygen saturation
• Audiometry
• Visual acuity
• Urine testing
